6/12/13

In the previous weeks, production has been planned and produced to complete the assignment. The sound project is set on a dream that occurs on a coach journey. To portray this the audience, coach atmos will be used at the start and end of the audio. The remaining segments will be filled with sounds from a band that are; reversed, wet and equalised.
The audience are intended to fill submersed and adventurous. This will be complimented by visuals of band related shots with their colour channels mapped to produce a dream like effect on screen. The prequel to these shots will be fisheye stills of a journey on a coach, taken from the inside. The inspiration for this approach came from the avant-garde film La Jetee, where the film is comprised of stills.

The shots I had taken on my journey to bedfordshire via coach will be used and the atmos I had recorded will be used for the beginning and ending.

Notes from laptop about La Jetée
La Jetee:
The film is based on scientists trying to find out how to produce time travel, it is set after World War III. The most interesting element of this film is that it consists purely of stills with the shortest of sequences within film being video. This produces a still simulacrum that the film world is a still world, however contradicts itself by using video. The use of video is interesting, considering it is the only part of the film that utilises video, this further contrast the 2nd world and the 3rd world. This concept is used films such as: Shutter Island and Inception.

The aim is to reproduce this effect within our short. The use of stills will be used to signify the 2nd world, whilst video will be used for the 3rd world. The contrast will be enhanced by the distortion of video within the film.
